Feeling a Tad Bit Better

What a dreary Tuesday! Well we just got back from lunch and I have to say that it was rather interesting. The Pumpkin Pear Waffles were good but the preparation was different to say the least. I added water to the mix which helped. Maybe it was my waffle maker. ha!

Anyways, I'm hoping to get some exercise in tonight. Not sure how much my body can take so I might walk for 30 minutes at a good pace. I still don't feel completely hydrated. And I'm not sure if I can eat anything else today after that waffle. Wow, am I full!

Recovering from a hard weekend

Well I rested my leg Friday night and decided to get up early Saturday and work out. So, Saturday was a pretty busy day. I got up, got Greg up, and we went to work out. I pushed myself a little farther on my run. I'm liking the eliptical more and more. It doesn't seem to have the strain on my muscles as running on a treadmill. I ran for 1.85 miles (my usual being 1 mi running) without feeling any pain. I felt great. I did a few weights and then had to hurry back to shower and get to my hair appointment. I love getting my hair done! :) Then we went out Saturday night for the Jeremy McComb concert. It was a lot of fun! He put on a very good concert. Greg loved his energy. I think he's an official Jeremy McComb fan....other than him hugging me. He wasn't a fan of that haha! However, we went to Longhorn Saturday night and apparently my food wasn't the greatest because I spent Sunday with a pillow and blanket on the bathroom floor. :( I felt bad because Greg wanted to workout Sunday and we were going to spend the rest of the day at the zoo. I felt HORRIBLE! So he took care of me. So my eating habits were sparse yesterday and will definitely be sparse yet again today. :(

Breakfast: Banana, 98 calories

Lunch: White Rice w/butter & sugar, 245 calories

Snack: Red Plum, 36 calories

Dinner: Bob Evans Western Omelette & Biscuits, 1034 calories

I'm pretty sure that it isn't healthy to eat all of your calories in 1 meal but I desperately needed food! And quite honestly, it was the only thing that didn't make my stomach turn at the thought of eating it. I love Bob Evans :)

Saturday-An AWESOME Run

So I found my magic food! While most runners claim it's pasta, last night's IHOP pancakes was the perfect blend of protein, fats, and carbs to make my 15 mile run today almost effortless! The weather helped too, it was the perfect fall day!

Snack: Banana, orange, apple, tea with half and half: 235 calories

Dinner: Turkey burger, sweet potato veggies:

Friday-Sheri's Rest Day

Today was my rest day, and I went to bed at 9 and got up at 7:30 this morning! Oh it was nice, except for the having to come to work part! HA! Tomorrow is 15 miles, I am excited to see my mileage decrease! I am going to take advantage of this break!

I mowed the yard last night, I normally hate to mow, but it was nice to be outside! Then I ran some errands and by the time I got home, it was time to eat, then I looked over some reading I needed to do and then shortly after that, headed to bed!

Not sure what's on the agenda for this evening, but glad the weekend is here!

Disappointed but Glad it's FRIDAY!!

Well last night was good. Greg and I discussed getting a dog for about an hour during dinner. haha He bought food from Kroger and on the back of his receipt was a coupon for $50 off a dog at Safari Pets. He said it was a sign. haha So I told him I would go look with him if we could go workout afterwards. He agreed. :) We came home without a dog (thankfully) and worked out by ourselves in his facility. It was nice. My calf still would not loosen up after doing all of the stretches Sheri showed me so I used the eliptical. It was great! I'm beginning to think that it's my new best friend. I ran farther and felt better. It definitely works different muscles than running on a treadmill. I did a few weights afterward but I also used the step machine in hopes of warming up my calf. Didn't happen. :( Oh well! I had Greg use the tennis ball to rub it out. I was screaming and laughing at the same time. It was a good hurt....but I couldn't take it for very long. It feels a little better this morning. I'm just hoping it works itself out so I can run again tonight!

And by the way....I was completely disappointed with Grey's Anatomy. It broke my heart. My show sucked. :( I think that 2hrs for a tv show is entirely too long. It's longer than a movie! No more 2hr shows please. What a complete let down!

Thursday night Previews...

Well last night was a little more difficult than I would have expected. My calf was tight the entire time and my bad knee sent pain shooting up my leg with every step. It was pretty amazing. Hopefully tonight will be a better experience. I just need to get everything done quickly because tonight is a HUGE HUGE HUGE night for premiers on television. Grey's Anatomy is a 2hr special, The Office is on for an hr, CSI, and My Name is Earl. Can I possibly watch all of them??? Umm...no. Not tonight. I'll be carrying them over into tomorrow night. But Thursday's are killer! :) Can't be lazy tonight! Greg says he'll have dinner ready when I get there. What a guy :) haha Hopefully I'll be hungry. The only time I've been slightly hungry today was for breakfast. hmmm....?

Dinner: Waffles & Eggs w/1/2% milk, 479 calories

Thursday for Sheri

I got in 6 miles this morning.  It wasn't a great run, I had shinsplints and had to walk and stretch some.  But, I discovered why I had the shinsplints.  I have been trying to wear my old shoes for short miles and wear my newer shoes on longer runs. Well, the time to officially retire my shoes have come...no more short runs, only walking.  Worn out shoes can cause shinsplints-DUH! I knew that, but thought I could wing it!

I am sad to put them away, they have brought me this far, they were my first official running shoes, but alas, they will carry me away from the finish line after my marathon!

Experimenting...

Last night was great. Went home, ate dinner, relaxed and then...wait for it....worked out!!! haha Yes, I was able to drag my butt off the couch and walk down to the facility to work out. The treadmills were occupied so I decided to try out the new eliptical. I like it! I'm usually very picky when it comes to elipticals. I think I'm going to include it in my daily workout. 1 mile on the eliptical, 1/2-3/4 walking on the treadmill and then whatever I can squeeze out of me (running) on the treadmill. We'll see. But it felt great and I slept soooooo good!!!

Well, today we're going to lunch somewhere I've never been before. I've never experienced Mediterranean food. So lets just say that I'm experimenting haha! Sheri sent me this article about how the Mediterranean Diet is extremely healthy for you and helps you lose weight. And that's good news!! ha! So we're going to give it a try. I'm just a little sheltered girl from LaGrange. I mean come on, all we have up there is Mexican and home country cookin'. It's called a heart attack waiting to happen. haha Good thing there's not much to do up there so you're forced to stay active in order to escape boredom. :) No offense, Mom. You're food is amazing!! But honestly, I don't know how I didn't weigh 400lbs.... :\ Oh, the joys of young metabolism!

Breakfast: Honey Nut Cheerios, 300 calories

Lunch: Chicken Couscous, 500 calories

Snack: Caramel Corn Quaker Rice Cakes, 100 calories

Separating and Starting Over, All While Enjoying the Race

So I thought I had started  yesterdays, but I can't find it.  This morning I did not run the easy 4 miles I was due for.  I decided to sleep in, rest my body and mind and start in again tomorrow.  This last two weeks of training is tapering, so missing an easy 4 won't hurt me.  I needed to separate myself from it.  I think with the nerves and facing this race, I couldn't stop thinking about it.  It was affecting my sleep, making me overeat, and just plain old sticking in my mind!

So, I am determined to enjoy these last two weeks!  I have gotten this far, I should enjoy it! And I have come to the conclusion that instead of TOTALLY focusing on calorie numbers, I need to make this eating thing a lifestyle, and I can enjoy that as well.  I love the cooking part, and I love to exercise, so why not make the eating thing just as enjoyable!  Yes, I want to look good and I need to lose some pounds, but by making it something enjoyable, I can be more successful at it!  I am just thankful I am not doing it by myself, that is the part I get tired of.

I am ready for my race to be here, to be able to enjoy exercising again for the energy and benefits.  Marathon training gets exhausting.  And, your body changes, my muscles are bulky, and I am retaining a bit more fat.  The bulkiness comes from HIGH mileage and the fat retention because that is what my body relies on to burn during high miles.  So I am ready to get lean and toned again!  I was there once, and I am going back!

Breakfast:  oatmeal, english muffin, plum:  290 calories

Snack:  Cucumber:  35 calories

moving forward

Well, I haven't been doing too well with the exercising. No surprise there! :( But I've finally realized why I don't have motivation. Greg keeps me from working out. Of course I want to spend every minute I can with him when I get home from work, but I also need to exercise. The lack of exercise and weight that I have put on makes me feel really ugly and I never want to go out. I don't want to see people that I haven't seen in a long time because I feel bad about myself. Pathetic, I know, but in order for our social life to be great again, I need to do this. I really need to buck up and get going. I think it took all of that to give me solid motivation for myself. Apparently looking good for me just wasn't enough. But if it's sacrificing our social life with friends...we need friends!! So, on with the lifestyle change! I'm starting over.

Weekend Catch Up

I didn't keep track of calories this weekend, mostly due to the fact I forgot my nutritional scale here, and second, I was too tired!  I stayed up till 6:30pm on Friday and slept till 6:30am on Saturday.  Saturday, I ran 22 miles!  Yes, I did it!  22 miles!!  It's my last run of 20's.  Next week is 15, the next 11, and the next:  MY RACE!!!
Also, I didn't feel the need to keep track of calories on Saturday after running 22 ! HA!  Then, on Sunday, I had problems!!  Don't eat a bag of sugar free jelly beans!  It may be a very, very small bag....but it has a powerful affect!  It acts as a laxative!  Yeah, that was fun, so today, Monday, I am trying to straighten out the old stomach! HA!
So, back on to Monday! I crosstrained with weights and then biked this morning!
Breakfast: Snapple Kiwi Pear Drink:  25 calories
Snack: Carrot Juice:  140 calories
Lunch: Shrimp Chili Cornbread Casserole, salad:  266 calories
Snack::  Snapple Kiwi Pear Drink, popcorn:  125 calories
Dinner: Shrimp chili Cornbread Casserole, veggies: 600
Snack: cereal, popcorn:  650 calories

This past weekend I got to try something new besides my casserole, I got to try spaghetti squash.  It was the best thing I have ever had!!! I loved it!  I thought it tasted just like pasta, only better, cause it has a bit more flavor! so from now on, it's my new pasta!

Tuesday

Well, I do believe I have run my last 8-mile Tuesday before the race.  I made it in good time this morning, so I was proud of myself!  HA! It's Monday for Sheri

And this is the second time I have started this, I can't find the first.  Workout was biking and abs, and upper body weights.  I am in the last month of my marathon training, so no lower body weight training!
I am excited and ready to run this race.  Ready to know what it feels like to look at the long run and see 6-8 miles TOPS!

Breakfast:  Turkey Sausage, Egg and Cheese casserole, orange:  260 calories

Snack:  Cauliflower:  50 calories

Lunch:  Salad, carrots, apple:  245 calories

I have to make a note about the turkey sausage, egg cheese casserole.  I haven't had that in a long time, mostly because my gallbladder can't take the grease from the meat, and fat from the cheese.  But I made a healthy one, using turkey sausage, which is very low in fat and grease, egg white, and fat free mozzarella cheese!  It was sooo good!

Saturday-20 Down

So I got in my 20 mile run. But, I have to admit, it was the hardest run of my life. After a week of no running and being sick, it was tough! But, I did it. And, it was a good lesson in what to do if I get shin splits or cramps in the beginning of my race. The first 4 miles was full of them, but I was able to stop, stretch and walk a few feet, and then run, then stop, stretch, walk a few feet, then run. Finally I got the 20 miles done!

Starting Anew

So I will begin posting tomorrow.  I had a relapse, first off I way overate on Sunday, and then I was sick with the stomach flu for 2 days, which I apparently passed to my boss!, and since recovering I have been eating non-stop, and it's been sugar, which has irritated my gallbladder.  I am due for 20 miles tomorrow, so I don't have time to mess around with all this crap.  But, I had time to think about some things.

One, I need to be fine with splurging once a week.  I need to go out and get that Turkish food I want or have a sugar free treat for me, that once a week I can indulge in.

Two, I need to eat more balanced.  Eating so little during the day that I have 1000 calories left at the end of the day is ridiculous.  I don't need to eat that much food in one sitting!

Three, I need a healthier view of food, exercise and myself.  For the most part I have a pretty good one, then I veer off into thinking I need a perfect body! But I don't!  If I exercise, and eat balanced and eat healthy and enough, my body will be as it should be.

Thanks Amy for listening to me yesterday, for encouraging me, I am sooo glad I don't do this on my own!  So starting tomorrow, it's 20 miles (even if it hurts) and eating more balanced and with a healthier view!  Also, thanks Amy for doing all this with me, I enjoy the cooking and being able to share it with someone else!

Is it Friday yet?

Well last night was irritating. I got home and the apt. was a mess so I had to clean before I met my best friend for dinner at El Puerto. The plan was to work out after dinner. So we got back and I changed clothes, got my shoes on, grabbed my keys and went to grab the workout facility key.....dun dun dun.....my roommates didn't put it back. So I ran around the apartment trying to find it. Nowhere to be found. What irritates me the most is that the key is MINE. M-I-N-E, MINE!! All they have to do is go down to the office and sign one out. If they lose it, it's $150 out of my pocket. Ouch! All I've asked from them is to put it back after they use it. One of them had it in their purse. So much for not working out Saturday morning. :( I think I'm ready to live on my own. I'm getting too old for this. So hopefully tonight will be better.

Breakfast: Raisin Bran Crunch, 460 calories

Lunch: Sheri's fabulous meal, 130 calories

Snack: Quaker Caramel Mini Delights, 90 calories

Dinner: Donato's Pizza, 650 calories

(Well.....bad news. I didn't run. I was really really tired and didn't feel well after dinner. Not really sure why. I fell asleep at 9:30 on the couch. :( Didn't feel too hot this morning. Not a good sign with Createathon coming up next week!)

Rain rain go away!

Well it's a rainy Tuesday morning. Yuck. I hear that it's supposed to clear up and be beautiful! I hope so because I need to get my workout in tonight and I hate hate hate having to drive to the workout facility. I lose my parking spot in front of my apartment. :( Bummer. I'm looking forward to running tonight believe it or not! Last night was a little rough but I guess I should expect the first day back into it after 2 days of rest to be a little rough. Today should be better!

Sheri still is home sick. Poor thing. Sheri! Get well soon!

Oh how I just love Mondays...

Well, getting out of bed today was a great time. 'Gotta love Mondays! Sheri was out today. I'm guessing that she's sick. Get well soon, Sheri!! So last week I got the jump start into wanting to work out. I'm hoping that will continue this week. I wanted to workout Saturday afternoon but somehow our plans shifted and I didn't have time. We were out until 4am Saturday so we slept pretty much the entire day Sunday. Got up, at lunch (yes, I said lunch...not breakfast), picked up the guys to go tailgate for the Colts game, went home to watch the game (on the couch of course) and crashed. Lazy, lazy weekend. But can I say a perfect weekend!? I needed that. So I've set my goal to run everyday this week and I'll take Saturday and Sunday off. Woohoo!

Okay, we'll shoot for 5 lbs by the end of the month. That's about 1 lb a week. I wouldn't consider that terrible. AND my clothes aren't necessarily fitting better nor are they fitting worse. Who knows. I just need to be more accountable when it comes to running. I need to do it at least 3-4 times a week if not 5 or 6. I'm shooting for 3-4 and hoping for the best! The rest is weights or walking and a day of laying on the couch of course!

Amy's Tuesday & Wednesday

Wow, I've been so busy at work that I don't have time to even THINK about posting my progress! Well I hit the scales yesterday and was very very disappointed. I've been really bloated lately which totally sucks. My stomach has just been WEIRD lately. Not sure what happened. But I've GAINED weight. So now I'm really irritated. I ran a little farther than I normally do and bumped up the speed on the treadmill. I was t-i-r-e-d when I got off. I couldn't even do my weights. I felt like I was going to pass out! ha! A little out of shape. So as I walked back I had to tell myself, "it will only get easier, it will only get easier..." No more slacking. I weigh too much. End of story!

Sorry...

Sorry I haven't posted for the past few days. I've had issues with my stomach so I haven't been eating much if at all. Apparently my niece gave me some sort of stomach bug last time I was home. Not a fun weekend for eating that's for sure!

Back to Work

So I am back to work after my vacation, and I must say, I am not ready to be here, I am still mentally on vacation I think!

Snack:  Cucumber:  50 calories

Lunch: Soup, orange:  210 calories

Snack: cucumber, tea with half and half:  60 calories

Dinner:Veggie burger, sweet potato, zucchini, watermelon: 430 calories

Snack: popcorn, oatmeal, rice cake:  550 calories

I think I need to start evenly distributing my calories more, I notice some weak feeling in the afternoon, but, I do like to sit and eat at night!  HA!  It helps me fall asleep and helps me keep energized for the next morning's run, but seriously?  A 550 calorie snack?
