It's Wednesday and Almost Thanksgiving

Well, I got up this morning and did my weights workout with a little cardio.  It felt good, I miss doing weights.  Tomorrow is Thanksgiving, I probably won't post, but my goal is to not overeat.  A friend of mine and I are doing a race tomorrow morning at 9, so I am excited to run and see her, and run off some of that good ole' food before I eat it!!!

Tuesday for Sheri

Well, this morning didn't start off so well. As I was running I had to get off the treadmill twice because I thought I was going to throw up.....it's this leftover cold I think combined with how hot that downstairs room gets. But I managed to run 3.5 miles and walk .75, so not too bad I guess....

So tonight's dinner will be the same as last nights-but that is the joy of eating less, things last me longer through the week.

Breakfast: oatbran, kiwi: 230 calories

Snack: Broccoli and carrots: 90 calories

Lunch: Turkey burger, salad: 350 calories

Snack: Tea with half and half, orange: 85 calories

Dinner: Spaghetti squash, veggies: 400 calories

Snack: Oatmeal:290 calories

Total: 1445 calories

Well, so lunch was rushed. I decided to clean the house----AGAIN! I think it's pretty much spotless already, but I can't help myself! So I was rushed when I finally got to making my lunch and eating. So in my last minute throw together, I made a delicious tasting salad with grated parmesan cheese, salsa, and pineapples! It was a GREAT taste when I combined! The turkey burger I decided to cook in the microwave....thank goodness for those!

It's Monday-AGAIN!

So I came in and cleaned this morning.  The building is done, and I am sitting down for the day!  I found some interesting things during my diet reading from the two books I referenced in the last blog.  The correct formula for calculating calories need to maintain your weight (from both books) is your weight multiplied by 15 and then, subtract 500.  In the Eat All Day Diet, she starts out at a base 1500 calories.  Which is probably good for me, seeing as how I burn calories working out, and that is 375 calories below the calories needed to maintain my weight.  It is turning out to be so much easier when I look at it in a laid back manner and just do it!  These two books together I think are going to help alot!!

I got up this morning and for the first time in more than 2 months I did weights!  So tomorrow is back to running!

Breakfast: Oatmeal, mixed berries:  250 calories

Snack:  Orange, broccoli:  90 calories

Lunch: Soup, healthy choice cafe steamer:  400 calories

Snack:  apple, cucumber:  90 calories

Snack:  Oatmeal:  290 calories

Bringing Out the Gloves

Well, over the weekend, I pulled out an old book. It was the "Eat All Day Diet." I reviewed the material in it, then pulled out my Ellen Kreger book, and set out a plan for myself as well as goals.

When I did the Eat All Day Diet, I lost 40 pounds. Can I do it again? Yes, although, the need to lose 40 pounds is more like 12-15 pounds! So it should be a bit easier.

When I lost all that weight, it was simply putting down a plan for each week and following it. So, last night I began planning out the week, from meals to snacks, to exercise schedules. It took getting ready for each day the night before, only a few minutes, but it was taking the time to stick to my plan! I am determined from here on out to take back control! I did it once I can do it again.

Yesterday was the first day I didn't do kickboxing, running, grocery shopping and cleaning all on Saturday! I got up, ran with a friend of mine, and came back home where I cleaned for a short 45 minutes. A friend called asking if I wanted to go to Tea's Me. Can you believe it??? I said yes, I had the time to go and the energy! I feel like a totally new person this week! I was able to enjoy my Saturday, spend time with Jake, with friends, plan out my eating, write out my grocery list and enjoy my in-law's company.

I am going to make my Sundays my rest day for exercise, so I can enjoy Saturday with Jake and stay up a bit later!

I even had the time to enjoy making my grocery list. With this diet I am doing, I should now spend MUCH less on groceries, because I will be eating less. I was eating soo much volume with low calorie counts, that to keep up with my food intake was ridiculous! I started that already today with my lunch by adding butter, and cheese to things, so that, yes, I get the calorie count, but I am not surrounded by several plates of food! Diet is not only calorie counting, but portion control too (which I think Amy understands far better than me!). So, I am going to make one of my goals be VERY frugal with my grocery shopping while shedding the pounds! Don't ask me why I am so excited about all this change, but, I am! I can't wait to see what the results are come January 1st and after!!!

Breakfast: oatbran with cherries, kiwi: 250 calories

Lunch: Spaghetti Squash, green beans, rutabaga: 415 calories

Snack: orange, toast with jelly:  155 calories

Dinner: Spaghetti squash with parmesan cheese, green beans, rutabaga: 345 calories

Friday-Not a Great Weigh-in

I knew it wouldn't be a great day to weigh in, but I thought, you know what, I did this, so get on the scale.  So I have 3 weeks to drop a few pounds, and I have started the whole thing of eating more for breakfast!  I am still full, yesterday by 10am I was STARVING!!!!

Tomorrow I go running with old running partner, I am excited!  I also scheduled a session with my trainer, so I am ready to get back on track.  Ready to have a life again!!!

Not a Good Week

Well, I let myself down again.  I am getting really tired of failing.  I had a good talk with Jake last night.  This week with jury duty, the only place to eat was the canteen and the city market.  Well, the city market has great tasting food, except for the part where it's greasy.  OOOHHH, RED FLAG!  That will cause me problems, and it did.  I couldn't work out, and I was miserable.  So in my miserableness, I continued to go downhill.  I just ate worse and worse.

So I talked to Jake last night.  Another reason I didn't go to kickboxing this week, is, it's cold, and it's at night.  I do well exercising in the morning and at my house.  So for Christmas I am asking for a punching bag, so I can keep up with the kickboxing, but today I emailed my trainer to set up a workout session.  I have found that with not working out in the evening, I have more time with Jake and to be honest, I love that.  So I said to my trainer, I want a workout that is a good, solid, and VERY intense hour workout that will help me tone up.  On Saturdays now, I will only run, doing kickboxing, and running then grocery shopping and any cleaning was getting to be just another work day.  I need to enjoy my workouts, and because I am not a trainer, I cannot make my schedule fit around working out, simply put, working out has to fit in my schedule.  I want time with friends and family.  I also will change when I go grocery shopping, which means it won't take time away from Jake.

I will grocery shop on Monday, when Jake is at the game store.  Then, my eating.  I have got to stop eating so little during the day, and then tons at night, it sets me up or failure when I don't eat balanced.  I eat balanced with WHAT I eat, so why not with HOW I eat.

There are a lot of things I need to change and it's sooo easy to say I will, as I have in the past, but I am going to put those into action now.  I am changing things clear from my exercise, to my eating habits, to some personal stuff.  I want to become the person I used to be, the person my husband married!  Last night Jake said to me, "Why are you soo angry at the world?"  Here is what I came up with after thinking about that last night:  Because I am so angry at myself, at my failures.

When you aren't satisfied with who and what you are or look like, how can you be satisfied with the world around you.

So, today, I am throwing that baggage away.  I am going to start trying to reach out and love those around me more!!

Well, I didn't work out last night. I had too much on my mind. I just wanted to lay around after the bad news. I tend to think about things indepth when I run, so I was trying to avoid that at all costs last night. Tonight, on the other hand, should be different. No reason to go around sulking for 2 days in a row. I'm getting sick so I need to work out to try to keep my body healthy and fight off the cold I'm getting. Ugh! I hate this time of year!!

Fingers Crossed

Well I'm hoping to work out tonight. I won't be able to if I don't get some energy throughout the day though. I'm so tired. Sheri got called in for jury duty so she won't be here until Thursday. I went on showings last night for properties and tomorrow I'll be going to get "pre-approved". Talk about stressing out. :( I'm trying to keep my stress level down but I'm not sure if I'll be so successful this week. I have too much going on. Showings, meetings, my old roommate is going to be in town and wants to go out to Broad Ripple Thursday night, Lunch date with some of my old classmates, Prepping for the IU/Purdue game, finding a dress for the wedding next week, and tailgate on Saturday. Where did my week go!? Ack!

I Really Dislike Monday's

Well Monday's are not my favorite day of the week. Honestly, I think Sunday night is much worse with Monday looming hours ahead of you. Ugh. I went on a showing of a couple condos. My realtor was extremely night, however, he talked so much that I didn't end up getting home until 8:00. :( Which meant late dinner, which meant no workout. :( Oh well. Looks like tonight and tomorrow I'll be catching up. I was proud of myself over the weekend though. I ran Saturday morning and ran a quarter of a mile more and a lot faster than I normally run. It felt great! Hopefully this week will be a repeat of Saturday.

Friday, Friday, Friday!!

Finally it's Friday! :) Not a nice Friday, but any Friday will do I suppose. Last night was good and not so good. We went to see Jake and Sheri's house, Greg LOVED it!! :) and then we went out to Waffle House, one of my favorite places to get waffles. That was great! Then we got home... :( It was like a light bulb went off, I was in instant pain for about 2 1/2 hours. I'm glad I went to the doctor, but I'm an idiot because I didn't get my prescription filled for my pain killer. UGH! I needed it last night. It got so bad I actually started crying. Not sure if it was because of the pain or the frustration. I wanted to work out last night so badly. Now I'll be working out tonight and tomorrow morning. Ick. I don't know how you do it, Sheri. I hate getting up and working out on Saturday mornings! haha Oh well. Have to readjust my work out schedule. Things happen I guess!

My house is all clean!  It actually sparkles I think.  I cleaned last night and felt so good after it was done, despite the fact that my chickpea stew is now all gone! Oh well, on to other recipes!!!!

I slept in this morning (it's my rest day), I got a good 9.5 hours of sleep!  I LOVE sleep, have I said that enough!!  I got up this morning and stepped on the scale to find the pounds are still coming off.  I apparently put on quite a few unneeded pounds during the last few weeks of my marathon training!

Lunch: Tuna Salad, carrots, asian pear:  195 calories

Happy Thursday!

My days are all screwed up. I thought today was Friday again. WOW. Today is going to be a good day though!! Greg and I are "touring" Jake and Sheri's house today and......I grabbed a pair of jeans today that I've dreaded wearing for awhile because they're so tight and hard to get on since I've gained weight. I used to go for 2nds, and everyone did last night but me. I was comfortable. And as you know, Sheri, I wanted to eat ALL day yesterday! And that turned out not to be because of the weather :( Ick. I woke up this morning hoping that it was Saturday. NOPE! Definitely Thursday. *sigh* Oh well! I've done pretty well so far this week. No fast food and I've been on the treadmill every night, not to mention walking on the Canal during lunch break. I've changed my morning breakfast pattern to yogurt. I will say that I need a little more substance in the morning other than yogurt (good to know now) so I think I'll be getting fruit when I get groceries this weekend. Funny how something so little can get the ball rolling, you know? Well at least it's the ball rolling and not me rolling. haha!

Everyone's Talking About Change

So here we are, the day after the election and everyone is talking about change. What does that even mean!? Obama wouldn't stop talking about "change", and now I'm talking about it. haha No correlation between the two though. haha However, we both are now facing the consequences of all the talk about change. Now comes the time to actually make the change happen. I've been talking and talking about how I'm going to start losing weight, and getting motivated to get skinny. Heck, we even started a blog because both of us were so motivated. Somewhere along the way I forgot about my own campaign for change. So here I am, holding myself accountable. FINALLY! ha! I finally found the motivation I needed to get myself moving again. A 5K with my sis in the near future. If I slack, and don't run at all, I'll be walking for sure. But if I stick with it, she and I should get a very good finishing time. Heck, if I like it, maybe I'll think about a mini! HA! Now lets not get too ahead of ourselves here....but it's a possibility! So the laying around stops now! :)
